Our Practice

Animal Hospital of Ludington was founded on November 20, 1991 by Dr. Stephen Paxton. Our slogan is “Quality, Caring, Compassionate Companion Animal Medical and Surgical Services”. This is not just a string of words to us – it is a way of life. We are passionate about animal health care and are dedicated to helping each patient enjoy a long, healthy and happy life. We achieve this goal by consistently living up to our promise of delivering quality, compassionate care with each interaction.

We are a full service veterinary clinic offering comprehensive medical, dental, diagnostic and surgical care. By far the vast majority of the patients we see are dogs and cats. However, we welcome other small animals such as ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, mice and gerbils. We also see bird species for beak, nail, and wing trims. We understand how important your pet’s health is to you—it is important to us too; therefore we provide the services, care and treatment he or she needs to achieve a lifetime of good health.

At Animal Hospital of Ludington, we strive to continuously offer you, our clients, the best available treatment options to improve the quality of your pets’ lives. Our staff embraces new technology and utilizes CO2 surgical laser, therapy laser, digital radiography and an extensive array of in house diagnostic equipment. We are committed to personally developing our own skills and knowledge by keeping current through continuing education. We believe that staying up to date on all of the new advancements in veterinary medicine allows us to provide your pet with the best possible care.

We don’t want to be simply your family vet, but your partner in helping to keep your pet happy and healthy, from birth through the senior years, and every milestone along the way. At Animal Hospital of Ludington, we celebrate and promote the human-animal bond. We are committed to providing you with all the information you need to fully understand your pet’s health care needs.

We invite you to come by, take a tour of our hospital, meet our friendly, knowledgeable staff, and learn about our comprehensive services firsthand. We’re confident that once you do, you’ll want to become a member of Animal Hospital of Ludington’s family. We look forward to seeing you very soon and hope you’ll give us the opportunity to serve you and your pets for many years to come!

Thank you to the staff at Animal Hospital of Ludington and especially Dr Paxton. We had no choice but to put our beloved Jasmine to sleep due to her condition. It was amongst the worst day of our lives. Dr Paxton and his wonderful staff treated us with the ultimate compassion and patience. The office even followed up within a few days later with a signed condolence card, a cast of her paw prints and a bottle with a bit of her fur. Janni and I are forever indebted to the kindness they showed to us. I HIGHLY recommend this office to anyone needing vet care for their pets.

I’ve experienced nothing but excellent care from Dr. Deines and Dr. Paxton and staff. From emergency visits to routine care and end of life decisions, they’ve been compassionate and trustworthy at every step. Any questions I’ve had, they discuss with me and make sure I understand. I highly recommend choosing their team to trust with your loved ones.

‘Five Stars’ for Dr Paxton as he is a caring, knowledgeable, experienced professional! I had an in-depth conversation around the benefits of Cytopoint injections for my Westie with seasonal dermatitis. Success! Cytopoint was the solution to measurable relief.
Also I want to share my thoughts on Euthanasia for an aggressive, violent dog. If your veterinarian recommends euthanasia, you should give it serious consideration. Some dogs are not wired correctly. The safety of children, family, & community should be the priority over an aggressive dog. Don’t wait for a disaster to transpire. My family has suffered do to non action of our neighbors aggressive dog.
