Pain Management

Pets can experience the same sensations of pain as we humans do. Some types of pain are chronic, such as the pain caused by certain degenerative medical conditions, like arthritis or hip dysplasia. Additionally, pets can experience bouts of acute or sudden pain following an injury or surgery. Regardless of the type of pain, experiencing such discomfort can greatly affect their quality of life. Animal Hospital of Ludington offers a wide range of pain management services to help your pet feel better.

Some of the common signs that your pet may be in pain include:

  • Behavioral Changes
  • Aggression
  • Hiding
  • Trembling
  • Lameness or Limping
  • Restlessness
  • Excessive Panting
  • Dilation of the Eyes
  • Increased Heart Rate
  • Loss of Appetite
  • Self-Mutilation

If you believe your companion is experiencing pain or discomfort, contact us right away. We can conduct a thorough exam and run diagnostic testing to determine what’s causing the problem, and develop an appropriate plan to address it. Pain management may include physical therapy, medication, laser therapy or any combination of these. Let us get to the bottom of your pet’s pain issues and help them live a more comfortable, happy life.

Solensia

Cats have many skills, one of which is hiding pain. That said, cats who suffer from osteoarthritis (OA) often exhibit noticeable changes in their everyday behavior. Suddenly normal daily activities, such as jumping, climbing, or playing are no longer easy due to pain. If you believe your feline friend may be suffering from OA, the first step is visiting the vet for a diagnosis. The next step is treating the condition with Solensia.

Solensia is the first and only FDA-approved treatment for feline osteoarthritis pain. It’s administered monthly via a quick injection right in the vet’s exam room. Solensia works like your cat’s natural antibodies to combat pain signals and the results can be significant. Give your kitty the relief he or she deserves and help get that purrfect guy or gal moving more freely and comfortably once again!

Dr Paxton saw my 15.5 year old dog yesterday and was so kind and responsive. My dog had developed a honking cough, and at his age, anything... like this gives me great concern. He did a thorough exam, my dog was super comfortable with him and his tech, and it was refreshing to visit a vet who doesn’t up-sell with a battery of tests. Excellent service from everyone, reasonably priced.read more

Love this clinic! Everyone from the ladies who greet us at the front desk to the veterinarians are incredibly kind. Dr. Deines has taken great... care of my dog and cat for the last year or so. She takes the time to answer all of my questions (sometimes before I've even asked!) and she puts myself and my pets at ease. I recommend this clinic to anyone looking for great care for their pet(s)!read more

We recently moved to Ludington and I polled my neighbors about a local vet. Very happy that we had a recommendation to start with Animal... Hospital of Ludington.Unfortunately, my previously healthy older small dog developed a heart valve problem. Dr. Deines worked with me to try medications. Eventually I needed to have my dog euthanized but Dr. Deines and all the staff, were so kind and explained everything so it made it an easier time for me and my husband. Our younger dog is doing well and she will continue care with the Ludington Animal Hospital. Thank you so much for your care and attention.read more
