After Hours Emergency Services

After Hours Emergency Services

Veterinary emergencies may occur at any time, day or night. Rest assured that you will ALWAYS be able to consult with a veterinary professional 24/7. We partner with Veterinary Medical Center, in Ludington and Parkdale Animal Hospital, in Manistee, as well as, two 24 hour care facilities: Bay Area Pet Hospital in Traverse City and Animal Emergency Hospital in Grand Rapids.

For after-hours urgent care, here are the steps to take:

  • Please call 231-845-7719 where you will be directed to our answering service, GuardianVets.
    • GuardianVets is staffed by veterinary professionals who will discuss the problems your pet is experiencing. They will help you determine if this is an emergency or something that can wait until regular office hours.
  • If together, you and the GuardianVets team feel that it is safe to wait until regular office hours, please call our office the next business day for an appointment.
  • If together, you and the GuardianVets team feel that your pet should be seen on emergency:
    • Monday through Thursday, after regular business hours until 10:00 PM, GuardianVets will assist you in contacting a veterinarian from Animal Hospital of Ludington, Veterinary Medical Center, or Parkdale Animal Hospital.
    • Starting Friday at 5:00 p.m. through Monday morning at 9:00 a.m. or a holiday, GuardianVets will assist you in contacting one of the 24 hour care facilities in Traverse City or Grand Rapids.

You are not alone in your emergency situation. Please understand that emergency veterinary care is ALWAYS available to you when you need it. However, this care may occur at one of the 24-hour care facilities depending on when the emergency occurs or the severity of the situation.

  • What our clients have to say…

    • Tina Rommell

We love you all. Thank you for taking such great care of my dog.

    • Venisa Peterson

they took wonderful care with my puppy and explained everything

    • Karlene Hintz Boeve

‘Five Stars’ for Dr Paxton as he is a caring, knowledgeable, experienced professional! I had an in-depth conversation around the benefits of Cytopoint injections for my Westie with seasonal dermatitis. Success! Cytopoint was the solution to measurable relief.
Also I want to share my thoughts on Euthanasia for an aggressive, violent dog. If your veterinarian recommends euthanasia, you should give it serious consideration. Some dogs are not wired correctly. The safety of children, family, & community should be the priority over an aggressive dog. Don’t wait for a disaster to transpire. My family has suffered do to non action of our neighbors aggressive dog.

Thank you to the staff at Animal Hospital of Ludington and especially Dr Paxton. We had no choice but to put our beloved Jasmine to sleep due to her condition. It was amongst the worst day of our lives. Dr Paxton and his wonderful staff treated us with the ultimate compassion and patience. The office even followed up within a few days later with a signed condolence card, a cast of her paw prints and a bottle with a bit of her fur. Janni and I are forever indebted to the kindness they showed to us. I HIGHLY recommend this office to anyone needing vet care for their pets.

I’ve experienced nothing but excellent care from Dr. Deines and Dr. Paxton and staff. From emergency visits to routine care and end of life decisions, they’ve been compassionate and trustworthy at every step. Any questions I’ve had, they discuss with me and make sure I understand. I highly recommend choosing their team to trust with your loved ones.
