Surgery

When your pet needs surgery – even if it’s something simple and routine – it can be a stressful time filled with anxiety and uncertainty. You want to know that he or she will be in capable hands and will be well cared for throughout the process. The caring, compassionate and highly skilled staff at Animal Hospital of Ludington understands exactly what you are going through. We’ve all been there ourselves. That’s why we work so hard to set your mind at ease and to make each and every surgical procedure we perform as comfortable and stress-free as possible.

Our highly skilled veterinarians are experienced in performing a wide range of surgeries, including soft tissue, orthopedic, and laser surgery. All of the surgical procedures performed at our hospital are carried out using the safest, most up to date techniques, cutting edge technology and modern equipment. We never want to place our patients at risk, so we take every precaution necessary to ensure their safety and comfort, before, during and following surgery.

Before we proceed with any surgery, your pet will be carefully screened to ensure that he or she is healthy enough to move forward. We will then develop a customized pain management plan that is specifically tailored to your pet. We use only the safest anesthetic products which are administered under the careful watch of our skilled veterinarians.  We want keep your companion relaxed and pain-free, but in a way that provides for his or her optimum safety and well being.

During surgery, our doctors adhere to the highest standards of care and focus on delivering the best surgical experience possible. Your pet will be closely monitored by our well trained support staff throughout the procedure to ensure that their blood pressure, heart rate and oxygen level are precisely where they should be. Many of our surgeries can be performed using a laser, making the experience less painful and promoting a faster recovery.

Shortly after the surgery is complete and your pet is in recovery, you will be contacted at which point we will explain how the procedure went and advise you on when your pet will be ready to go home. When you arrive for pick up, we’ll go over our instructions for post-surgical care and pain management to improve the chances of a full and speedy recovery.

If your pet needs surgery, don’t fret. The staff at Animal Hospital of Ludington is here to provide for all of your companion’s surgical care needs. We’ll have them fixed up and back to their normal, active lifestyle in no time!

Dr Paxton saw my 15.5 year old dog yesterday and was so kind and responsive. My dog had developed a honking cough, and at his age, anything... like this gives me great concern. He did a thorough exam, my dog was super comfortable with him and his tech, and it was refreshing to visit a vet who doesn’t up-sell with a battery of tests. Excellent service from everyone, reasonably priced.read more

Love this clinic! Everyone from the ladies who greet us at the front desk to the veterinarians are incredibly kind. Dr. Deines has taken great... care of my dog and cat for the last year or so. She takes the time to answer all of my questions (sometimes before I've even asked!) and she puts myself and my pets at ease. I recommend this clinic to anyone looking for great care for their pet(s)!read more

We recently moved to Ludington and I polled my neighbors about a local vet. Very happy that we had a recommendation to start with Animal... Hospital of Ludington.Unfortunately, my previously healthy older small dog developed a heart valve problem. Dr. Deines worked with me to try medications. Eventually I needed to have my dog euthanized but Dr. Deines and all the staff, were so kind and explained everything so it made it an easier time for me and my husband. Our younger dog is doing well and she will continue care with the Ludington Animal Hospital. Thank you so much for your care and attention.read more
